Our story

Marcella Ellis School of Cosmetic Arts is a national training school providing microprograms in over 125 locations. We employ a highly skilled team of professional educators who deliver superior education to our students on a daily basis. In addition to in-person training, we provide online classes, stage performances at all of the major trade shows, free demos, and product knowledge training.

It is our mission to create success in the professional cosmetology industry, one stylist at a time!

History of the Marcella Ellis School of Cosmetic Arts

Founded by Master Educator and Beauty Industry Innovator Marcella Ellis, the School of Cosmetic Arts was created to provide accessible, high-quality training that leads directly to employment and state licensing. Beginning nearly two decades ago as a small advanced-training academy, the school quickly evolved into a nationally recognized career institution serving youth and adults throughout the workforce system.

Marcella Ellis built her school on a simple but powerful belief, everyone deserves the opportunity to learn a trade, earn a livable income, and build a sustainable career. With expertise in hair extensions, wig making, and textured hair education, she developed hands-on certification programs that are practical, affordable, and aligned with real industry demand.

Since 2004, the School of Cosmetic Arts has partnered with state agencies including the Department of Rehabilitation Services, Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services, and WIOA-funded workforce programs to help thousands of individuals gain employment, develop confidence, and enter the beauty industry with professional-level skills. These partnerships have allowed the school to train more than 20,000 participants, many of whom are now licensed stylists, salon owners, educators, and successful entrepreneurs.

Today, the Marcella Ellis School of Cosmetic Arts continues its mission through 4-week certification programs, onsite and hybrid training, apprenticeship pathways, and digital learning through CosmoVerse. The school remains dedicated to empowering disadvantaged youth, re-entry populations, and aspiring beauty professionals with education, mentorship, and lifelong career support.
